What does RoHS mean in the Lighting Industry?

RoHS stands Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive which prohibits the use of following six toxic substances (Polybrominated biphenyl ether (PBDE), Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead.) in electrical equipment including lighting bulbs and lamps. It was adopted by the European Union on 2013.
